Kadoma District Bishop: Revd P. Simango
Introduction: The Methodist Church in Zimbabwe Kadoma District will this year celebrate its 40th anniversary. Chegutu Circuit will host the physical gathering in September. The gathering itself will be a culmination of the events and programs that are lined up throughout the year at all levels of the District’s organisational and Circuit structures.
Historicity: Formed at the 1986 conference held at Trinity in Harare, Kadoma District was birthed from two districts namely Harare and Gweru. Gweru released two circuits, Kwekwe and Gokwe. [Consequently Gokwe gave life to the following Circuits: Gokwe, Manoti, Chinyenyetu, Mutora, Nyaminyami, Siyabuwa. Kwekwe gave birth to Kwekwe East, Kwekwe West, Redcliff and Zhombe]. Harare District gave in three Circuits: Kadoma, Makwiro and Karoi.
Current Status Quo: At the moment, the District consists of 25 Circuits, namely: Chegutu, Chikaka, Chikangwe, Chinhoyi, Chinyenyetu, Gokwe, James Anta, Kadoma East, Kadoma West, Kariba, Karoi, Kwekwe East, Kwekwe West, Makwiro, Manoti, Mhangura, Mutora, Nyaminyami, Redcliff, Sanyati, Siabuwa, Zambia, Zhombe, and Zvipani.
The District Bishop’s take: The Kadoma District Bishop Revd P. Simango said that the 40th anniversary celebration is a time to reflect on milestones and growth experienced within the District. “Celebrating 40 years allows the Church to reflect on its journey, recognise its spiritual and organisational growth, and celebrate the progress made in its mission and outreach,” he said.
Bishop Simango added that the anniversary celebration fosters unity and fellowship among members, strengthening relationships, enhancing community Spirit, and encouraging collective dedication to the Church’s goals.
“The celebrations also provide an opportunity to thank God, appreciate the members, and stakeholders for their dedication and contributions, inspiring continued faith, service, and commitment to the Church’s future endeavours,” postulated Rev. P. Simango.
The Celebrations branding: The event’s branding will feature two prominent logos – the district logo, symbolizing the District’s journey and reason for celebration, and the Church logo, representing the Church’s identity and traditions.
The District logo reflects the life journey of the District, highlighting its history and the significance of the anniversary. The Church’s’ logo, on the other hand, showcases the Church’s identity thus encompassing all its traditions.
The logos are accompanied by traditional and modern instruments, highlighting the Church’s rich heritage and its adaptation to the demands of our contemporary times. Thus the traditional instruments showcase the ones used since the missionary era, while the modern instruments represent the church’s evolution and continued relevance.
A striking feature of the branding is the image of a Sower, symbolizing the church’s unwavering commitment to spreading the Gospel to the ends of the earth. The overall design conveys a sense of pride, growth, and dedication to the Church’s mission.
