Kadoma District encouraged to expand Zambia Circuit
THE Methodist Church in Zimbabwe’s Kadoma District has been encouraged to build on its presence in Zambia by developing strategies that empower both clergy and laity.
The use of local languages and cultural understanding has been seen as essential for reaching the broader, multilingual Zambian community.
Zambia is one of the 25 circuits in Kadoma District, led by Bishop Rev. Peace Simango. The circuit is overseen by Superintendent Rev. Edison Mugadza, with Rev. Masimba Guduza also serving as a minister.
Connexional Lay President Mrs Sheila Mashiri said Kadoma District should capitalise on the longstanding relationship between Zimbabwe and Zambia to promote church growth.
The Zambia Circuit recently dedicated and officially opened the Lusaka Society and had a groundbreaking ceremony for the Saili Society. The construction of a plaza shop at Libala is nearing completion.
“… given the historical relationship between Zimbabwe and Zambia, and their shared ethnic and linguistic identities, the Zambia Circuit is well-positioned to develop into a thriving Methodist Fellowship in Zambia,” the Connexional Lay President said.
In its report at the recently concluded Synod meeting, the Zambia Circuit requested to enhance its institutional identity by incorporating the Zambian map into the church logo.
“This request does not weaken our unity but rather supports more effective ministry in our local context,” the report stated.
However, the Zambian delegation was instructed to submit a formal request to the Connexional Lay President.
