Wednesday, 11 February 2026 marked a historic milestone as Bulawayo Methodist High School witnessed the official dedication of its new school bus celebrated in a landmark and colorful and well decorated. The momentous occasion was presided over by the esteemed Presiding Bishop of The Methodist Church in Zimbabwe Rev S. Sithole, who led the dedication service and later conducted the prefect’s induction. The ceremony was graced by distinguished guests including the Education Secretary, Rev Dr D. Muzenda; the District Bishop, Rev Dr G. Chigova; and the District Schools Inspector for Reigate District, Mr M. Tshili. Also in attendance was the school administration led by Rev Tapiwa Mleya, the school Principal, Mr V. Sibasa who is the Head, Mrs M. Dube the deputy head, members of the School Development Committee (SDC), the Board of Governors, staff members, learners, and parents.
In their remarks, the invited speakers expressed heartfelt gratitude to the school administration and management for working hand in hand with the SDC to turn the long-held dream of owning a school bus into reality. The speeches had the central message of thanksgiving, unity, and celebration of collective the resounding collective effort. The event was made even more memorable by lively entertainment from the learners’ drama group and the school choir, whose performances brought joy and color to the day. Guests were also treated to delicious food, shared in a spirit of fellowship and thanksgiving. Following the dedication and celebrations, the programme proceeded to the prefect’s induction service, conducted by the Presiding Bishop Rev S. Sithole. The service served as both a spiritual blessing for the new bus and a charge to the newly inducted prefects to lead with integrity and service.
The dedication of the school bus stands as a testament to what can be achieved through prayer, partnership, and purposeful leadership. It will greatly ease transport challenges and open new opportunities for learners’ academic and extracurricular activities. We give thanks to God and to all stakeholders who contributed to making this dream come true.
